Sole Mio in Bratislava

Laura came for a short visit and so we were to meet in a city center for a cup of coffee or tea. I came a bit earlier so I sat on the bench at Safarikovo's square, reading a book and smiling occasionally at the hesitation of the pigeon who was clearly interested in something under my bench. Gradually he was mustering the courage and eventually ended up enjoying the little Richman leftovers somebody left behind.

The book got my interest for a while and when I looked up again I almost dropped it - pigeons everywhere! Surrounding me from all sides, they looked much more determined coming in in a group and in their tiny eyes I could see the reflection of myself, however no longer the reflection of a human being, but that of a large tasty Richman burger.

Laura rescued me, arriving with the traditional German punctuality and the pigeon nightmare was soon forgotten. We went to the tea-place on the corner. Alas, that was closed, and so a plan-B was pulled out.

We went to the pizza place on Grosslingova called Sole Mio. The place is relatively new (or at least reconstructed recently) with small but nice interior. We got a coffee and one "Sole Mio" pizza, with a bit unconventional ingredients such as eggs or asparagus. The pizzas are done in an electrical oven and it took the standard 10 to 15 minutes for the pizza to land on the table. Smile for the picture aaand lets try it out!

What I really liked about the pizza were the nice puffy edges, which so far I have not seen in a restaurant in Bratislava. The pizza looked really wonderful, the toppings spread across the whole disk and the bottom nicely charred, but not burned. Given the fact that this is a pizza place and we were almost the only customers, one could expect such results but for the Bratislava standards, I was positively surprised :-) .

Perhaps (I repeat myself from the previous pizza hunts) the only thing that I could imagine being improved is the crispiness of the crust, however that is more of my preference than a general rule. Apart from that, Sole Mio (on Grosslingova) is really an ideal place to catch up with a friend you haven't seen for a while and enjoying a tasty pizza at the same time. The service is nice and friendly and the prices are reasonable for a city center location. The verdict? Along with the restaurant Drag, the best pizzeria in Bratislava I have visited so far.

Laura thanks for the pizza hunt and good luck with the concert ;-)
